musculoskeletal system
Inside your body there are over 206 bones and in between 640-850 muscles!
Bones
Together, your bones make up a skeleton that supports and protects your body.
This is a image of the human skeleton. This is one part of the Musculoskeletal System. Your bones are like the framework of a building.Bones are a hard organ. If you had no bones you would be a blob on the floor! The inside part of your bones is called bone marrow. Bone marrow is a tissue that makes red and white blood cells, as well as platelets in huge amounts. So your bones are really important.
Muscles
This is the muscle part of the Musculoskeletal System. Muscles are a very important part of your body. They are the part of your body that let you move! There are different types of muscles. There are Ligaments (which connect bone to muscle) and there are tendons which connect bone to bone. There are others but too many to name! You can also look on the diagram above.
The largest muscle in your body is in your bottom. This muscle is called the gluteus maximus. There is also a muscle behind the gluteus maximus called the gluteus medius.
Thank you for looking at the musculoskeletal part of the website and hope you learns a lot as well.
